Following Jesus Into Uncharted Territory

What does it really mean to call Jesus Lord? Not just in word, but in the areas of our lives where we have quietly decided he does not get a vote? That question sits at the heart of this message, and it cuts deeper than we might expect. Using the story of Moses at the burning bush in Exodus 3, we are drawn into a pattern that runs from the Old Testament all the way to the Great Commission: God sees, God hears, God moves, and then God sends his people. The call Moses received was not accompanied by a detailed plan or a guarantee of success. It came with one promise: I will be with you. That same promise echoes through the New Testament when Jesus tells his disciples in John 20 and Matthew 28 that just as the Father sent him, he is sending us, and that he will be with us always. The spiritual lesson here is both simple and demanding. Lordship is not a title we hand Jesus over the parts of our lives we have already decided to surrender. It is an unconditional yes, offered before we know the full cost. This message challenges us to examine honestly whether there are areas where we have already told Jesus he is not allowed.
