WEEK 38: Underground Jesus- Motto

September 21-September 25

DAY 1
Day 1: The Fire That Spreads

Reading: Acts 2:1-4, 42-47

Devotional: Passion is not manufactured — it is caught. The early church did not grow because of programs or polished presentations. It grew because ordinary people were set ablaze by an extraordinary God and refused to keep it to themselves. Pastor Mark reminded us that passion is contagious. When you are genuinely on fire for God, the people around you feel the heat. The question worth sitting with today is not whether God is moving, but whether you are positioned close enough to the flame to catch it. Ask God to reignite whatever has grown cold in you.
DAY 2
Day 2: Boldness Begins on Your Knees

Reading: Acts 4:23-31

Devotional: It is striking that the first thing the early church did after facing imprisonment was not strategize, not retaliate, and not retreat. They prayed. And not timid, whispered prayers either. They raised their voices together and called on a sovereign God. Pastor Mark made it plain: boldness starts in prayer. Many of us have been waiting for courage to arrive on its own, but courage is not a personality trait — it is a response to time spent with God. The disciples did not pray and then become bold. They prayed, and God made them bold. The sequence matters.
DAY 3
Day 3: Anchored in Sovereignty

Reading: Isaiah 46:9-10

Devotional: When the early believers prayed in Acts 4, they opened by addressing God as Sovereign Lord — the maker of heaven, earth, and everything in them. They were not reminding God of who he was. They were reminding themselves. Pastor Mark pointed out that when you are going through difficulty, you tend to ask the wrong questions. You ask how, when, and why. But sovereignty calls you to ask who. When you know who is in control, the how and when become far less urgent. A sovereign God does not need your help managing outcomes. He needs your trust.
DAY 4
Day 4: Fueled by the Spirit, Not by Applause

Reading: Zechariah 4:6

Devotional: Pastor Mark asked a pointed question: what fuel are you running on? Many people are running on the approval of others, on social media validation, on personal achievement, or on sheer willpower. Those fuels run out. The early church in Acts 4 spoke with boldness not because they were naturally courageous people, but because the Holy Spirit filled them and sent them. When the Spirit is your source, you do not burn out the same way. You do not preach three services and have nothing left. You do not serve your family, your community, and your church and come home empty. The Spirit replenishes what it uses.Reading: Zechariah 4:6 — The Lord declares that his work is accomplished not by human might or power, but by his Spirit alone.

DAY 5
Day 5: Living the Motto — Bold and Deep

Reading: 1 John 4:17-19

Devotional: Live boldly. Love deeply. Pastor Mark was clear that this is not a slogan designed for marketing. It is a mandate from heaven. The early church did not boldly preach the gospel from a distance. They loved people up close — in homes, in communities, in the margins of society. Bold living without deep loving produces noise. Deep loving without bold living produces comfort without impact. But when the two work together, they look like a church that shows up for the addict, the felon, the person struggling with identity, and the one who does not yet know they are loved by God.
