Next Gen on Mission
Next Gen on Mission takes us into the heart of Hosea chapter 11, where we encounter one of the most tender yet heartbreaking portraits of God's love in all of Scripture. We see God reminiscing about teaching His people to walk, holding them up by their arms like a parent with a toddler, bending down to feed them with gentleness and care. Yet despite this perfect, fatherly love, the Israelites continually turned away, choosing idols and false gods over their Creator. What makes this passage so convicting is recognizing ourselves in this ancient story. We too struggle to accept God's unconditional love, building modern altars to control, success, financial security, and even good things like our children that become idols when they replace our dependence on God. We act like orphans scrambling for security rather than children resting in a Father's provision. The radical truth we must embrace is that God's love is fundamentally different from human love. It doesn't grow tired, doesn't pull back when hurt, and doesn't abandon us when we fail. When God asks, 'How can I give you up?' He's revealing a love that led Him to create a fail-proof plan through Jesus Christ, whose blood covers our sins and restores us as children of God. The challenge before us is to stop running like orphans and return to childlike dependence on our Heavenly Father.
