Watch How You Talk To Me

Jan 11, 2026    Mark Johnson

Pastor Mark confronts us with a powerful question: how do we talk to God? Drawing from Luke 11:1-4, we're reminded that when Jesus' disciples asked Him to teach them to pray, they weren't asking for religious formulas or impressive vocabulary—they were seeking authentic relationship. The teaching reveals three transformative principles about prayer: frequency, authenticity, and proper order. Prayer isn't meant to be our spiritual 911 call reserved only for emergencies; it's designed to be a rhythmic, ongoing conversation woven throughout our daily lives. We're challenged to examine whether God is our first call or our last resort. The radical invitation Jesus extends—to call the Creator of the universe 'Father'—shifts prayer from religious performance to relational intimacy. God isn't offended by our honesty; He invites it. He already knows our struggles, our addictions, our failures, and our fears. The question becomes: are we willing to be real with Him? When we approach God with the right posture—worship before requests, dependence before demands, surrender before control—we discover that prayer becomes less about having perfect words and more about having an honest heart. This isn't just about improving our prayer life; it's about deepening our relationship with a God who's been waiting to walk with us through everything.
